May. I'm not sure how to feel about May. I'm hopeful it will bring May flowers and green grass, but it also brings the last of our youngest child's high school days. I'm so glad I get to distract myself with quilting!
This month's spice is African Blue Basil. The blue on these leaves is so pretty and I can't wait to have a feed full of blue!
From Wikipedia:
All parts of the flower, leaves and stems are edible; although some might find the camphor scent too strong for use in the kitchen, the herb reportedly yields a tasty pesto with a "rich, mellow flavor" and can be used as a seasoning in soups and salads, particularly those featuring tomato, green beans, chicken, etc
While the color may fit my current feelings 😉 I am actually excited to let you know you have two choices for this month's block. You only NEED one, but feel free to download both. May Block A is a little more difficult because of the math, but I promise the How To Video included still makes it "new quilter" friendly. May Block B is a very simple block, but with a similar look.

By putting the block on-point we add a little bit of movement to our piece.
May Block B 12" Finished If the first option seems intimidating, I've added a second block for May. |
