Checkered Rainbow

I can't believe we've finished! Thank you so much to all of you who stitched along this year. I have loved seeing your blocks. I can't wait to see your tops! Get your sashing instructions HERE.

Tips for the sashing

I found it easiest to sew the sub-cut units into pairs.

Then pairs into groups of four.

Then groups of four into eight. NOTE! Do not sew all groupings into groups of eight! If you do your sashing will be made up of  sixteen rectangles, not twelve, then you will need to get the seam ripper and you will hate me. None of us want this, so sew/count carefully.

I found it helpful to have my seams all pressed the same way. It will make sewing easier if you take time to make sure this happens.

My ends were not all even. I did NOT trim. I simply sewed them to the blocks when instructed, pressed and never looked at them again. Once sandwiched and quilted no one will know. Well, except all of you. Ha!

Once you are sewing the sashing to your blocks make sure to pin. There is a lot of fabric movement and stretching that happens when the sashing contains a lot of pieces.

Enjoy your quilt!

There will be a "Quilt Party" January 15, 2020. When your top is finished (pieced, it doesn't need to be quilted) please email me a picture of your top, your first name and state and/or country to patternsbyjen(at)gmail(dot)com and I will add it to the party. I'm so excited to see them, did I say that already, I have just loved what you are showing in the Quilt and Learn with Patterns By Jen Facebook group. Thank you SO much for making this year so fabulous!

Happy Stitching!
