Let's get 2022 started!
I have been waiting forever to get this Color Challenge started! Well, maybe not forever, but at least 2 months, and in 2021 I believe that counts as forever.
Our spice for January is Saffron, also know as the most expensive spice in the world. ". . .it takes 75,000 saffron flowers to make one pound of saffron spice. The small amount of saffron spice per plant, along with the fact that harvesting must be done manually, leads to saffron's being majorly expensive." - Britanica.com
Um, wow! That is a LOT of plants. Thankfully we only need to make four different units to make this month's Color Challenge block. You're welcome. 😉
This is a simple, but fun take on the spool block. I love how quickly this block comes together and I hope you do, too! There is a "How To" video included each month and this year there is a video included for the 6" Finished Block size!

The bloggers this year will be sharing their quilts using the color of the month. I love orange so much, but have not made an orange quilt. Here are a few that have orange in them, though. I think what I like about orange is how the different the hues can be.
Criss Crossing was the very first quilt pattern I had accepted into a magazine publication.
Broken Panes uses a pumpkin-ey orange that I loved so much I used it as the backing as well.
Gradient Stars uses a gorgeous orange to highlight the blue.
I think I need to make more orange quilts. . .
