Pattern cover update

I decided to upgrade the back of my covers where I list fabric requirements.

Old pattern back

When I first started, my patterns were simple and small enough that I could use a "pretty" font and make them "artistic."

Unfortunately, not only did that make it harder to read (who needs to read when it can look pretty, ha) it became harder and harder to fit in all of the requirements without causing confusion.

Enter the "easier to read" (hopefully) Fabric Requirements table.

New pattern back

Not only should it be easier to read, I can add backing and binding requirements as well. Backing and binding can be personal preferences, do you like having a base to go off of for those? Let me know in the comments.

I have a few patterns left that have the old set up on the back, but with each new reprint the old is becoming new again. I'd love to hear whatyou think of the new layout.

Happy Stitching!

Introducing Frayed Edges! (and a giveaway)

I am excited to introduce the newest pattern in the PBJ family:

Using one simple block Frayed Edges gets it's real beauty from the HST sashing.

The middle of the block is perfect for fussy cutting, as Sandy showed in her test quilt.

Dedee was feeling patriotic when she tested Frayed Edges.

I love her backing choice!

Kelly went with a bright, crisp look.

If her daughter hadn't already claimed this one, I would. I still might. Designer privileges anyone?

This red beauty is featured on the back cover. So many choices, so little time! Pick up your copy of Frayed Edges at my Etsy shop.

If you prefer to support your local quilt shop, please have them contact me, I am happy to give wholesale prices on any of my patterns to LQS!

Currently you can find my patterns, including Frayed Edges, at Fabrics Plus of Marshall.

If you would like a chance to win a copy of this pattern, simply leave a comment. Giveaway ends Friday, Aug 26th at 11:59 pm CST.

For another chance to win, check out my Instagram post @patternsbyjen and leave a comment there.

Good luck!

Introducing Cartwheels on the Prairie

My newest pattern, "Cartwheels  on the Prairie" was released September 16th.

This quilt has been in the works for years. Literally.
She first started out with the name "Spring Stars". She was made with sweet pinks and greens, and a LOT of half square triangles. Even the stars were made of half square triangles. Yeah, that was a Lot of HSTs!

The original.

So even though she was softly beautiful, I knew I needed to come up with something different. I love a perfect half square triangle, but this was a bit much, even for me.

Enter the Square-in-a-Square block and Flying Geese block. They saved this quilt from pure craziness. It definitely came together much quicker.

Made with less half square triangles.

This baby is huge. It comes as a queen size pattern, there is a wall hanging option as well, which is also a great size for a baby quilt.

Though I decided to go with a different colorway for the cover quilt, which meant a change in the name as well, I did choose to use the pink and green for the wall hanging version. Just a tip of the hat to the original "Spring Stars" quilt that grew into "Cartwheels on the Prairie".

You will notice there are some great open spaces, have fun and add some great quilting.

You can pick up a "Cartwheels on the Prairie" pattern at my Etsy shop as well as the three other quilt patterns I have available.
